Manchester City is targeting Napoli winger Hvica Kvaratshelia, but it doesn’t seem easy to recruit him.
On the 15th (Korean time), the British ‘Football Insider’ reported, “Napoli is expected to demand a huge transfer fee for Kvaratshelia, despite Manchester City’s interest.”
Georgian winger Kvaratshelia joined Napoli in July 2022. He grew into a key player for Napoli as soon as he joined. Kvaratshelia played an active role in the 2022/23 season, scoring 14 goals and 17 assists in 47 official matches. In the Italian Serie A, he contributed to Napoli’s victory by achieving ’10 (goals) – 10 (assists)’ with 12 goals and 13 assists in 34 matches. Hvica began to be called ‘the second Diego Maradona’ due to his outstanding dribbling skills.
Last season, Kvaratshelia showed his good form with 11 goals and 9 assists in 45 games, and he has become an ace under coach Antonio Conte. He has recorded 5 goals and 3 assists in 17 games in the 2024/25 season. He is leading Napoli’s competition for the top spot, but has recently been out of action due to an injury.
According to the global transfer market site ‘Transfermarket’, Kvaratshelia’s market value is 80 million euros (about 120.4 billion won). With his value skyrocketing, he is currently receiving interest from several big clubs. The most representative club is Manchester City. Manchester City is experiencing its worst slump since Pep Guardiola took over as manager this season. Manchester City, which has only won 1 game in 11 official matches, plans to bring in Kvaratshelia in the January transfer market to change the atmosphere.
Napoli has no intention of letting Kvaratshelia go easily. Football Insider reported that, “Napoli is determined not to lose Kvaratshelya as star player Victor Osimhen is loaned to Galatasaray.” Attention is being paid to whether Manchester City can overcome Napoli’s resistance and successfully recruit Kvaratshelya.
